The History

WHO ARE WE?

WHO ARE WE?

Founded by Ryan Amos, Damascus Interactive is a technical art and pipeline consultancy built on over 17 years of experience across AAA, AA, mobile, and real-time training. Ryan has held senior and lead technical art roles at studios including Gunfire Games, Tripwire Interactive, Deep Silver Volition, and the U.S. Army, specializing in tools, pipeline development, lighting, and scalable production workflows.

Throughout his career, Ryan has focused on bridging art and engineering by building smart tools, scalable pipelines, and artist-friendly workflows that improve visual quality while accelerating production. His experience spans Unreal Engine and Unity, custom tools and pipeline architecture, lighting and rendering workflows, performance optimization across PC and console platforms, automation and build infrastructure, and production systems designed to scale across large, multi-discipline teams.

Damascus Interactive was founded to bring that senior-level expertise directly to teams that need practical, production-focused solutions. As the studio grows, the goal remains the same: deliver thoughtful technical direction, build durable workflows, and help teams move faster without sacrificing quality.

FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Still Have Questions?

Still have questions? Let's talk.

Who do you typically work with?

We primarily work with studios in North America, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. We're also open to working with teams in other regions when communication and collaboration can be conducted effectively in English. We work with studios of all sizes — from small indie teams to large AAA studios.

What types of projects do you take on?

We support a wide range of technical art and development challenges, including tooling, pipeline optimization, performance profiling, lighting and materials work, and general technical art support. You can find full details for all of our services on our Services page.

Do you work remotely?

Yes! We’re a remote-first studio built around trust and flexibility. We believe great work comes from empowered teams, and we support flexible schedules that accommodate life, family, and individual productivity.

What engines and tools do you support?

We primarily work in Unreal Engine and Unity, but we're comfortable adapting to custom engines, proprietary tools, and studio-specific pipelines.

Do you use AI in your workflow?

Yes. We use AI to accelerate development, especially for tooling, scripting, and automation. This allows us to move faster, iterate more efficiently, and deliver higher-quality results.

Can you help with performance optimization late in development?

Yes. We frequently support teams late in development to identify bottlenecks, improve performance, and help ship with confidence. Whether it's GPU, CPU, memory, or content-related issues, we focus on practical solutions that minimize disruption and maximize results.

How do engagements typically work?

Engagements typically begin with a short discovery phase to understand your goals, challenges, and timeline. From there, we define a focused plan and integrate with your team to deliver solutions efficiently and transparently.

Do you work short-term or long-term?

Both. We support short-term engagements for targeted challenges, as well as long-term partnerships where we help teams scale tools, pipelines, and technical art capabilities over time.

Do you integrate with existing teams?

Yes. We work directly alongside your team, collaborating across engineering, art, and design to deliver solutions that fit seamlessly into your existing workflows.
